Psalm 81 / Read

The psalm writer begins by encouraging the people of God to “sing for joy and shout aloud to [him].”

  • Why do you think he did that?

  • How does singing, shouting and celebrating God in outward worship impact us in ways that prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc. do not?

  • To what degree is outward worship expressed in your life?

The majority of the psalm is made up of God’s voice to his people.

  • What do God’s words reveal about himself?

  • Identify where and how the Lord uses the phrase “listen to me” in this psalm. What do these phrases reveal about the relationship between God and his people?

  • What is God saying to you personally based on the content of this psalm? What will it look like for you to listen to him?
